At Empower and Thrive Wellbeing, individual support is about more than just managing symptoms; it's about building a life that feels authentic and manageable. 


As an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker (AMHSW), I provide a safe, non-judgemental space where you can explore your challenges and develop practical, evidence based strategies for lasting change. 

Approach to Therapy

I believe that you are the expert on your own life.  My role is to provide the professional tools and therapeutic guidance to help you navigate it. I specialise in working with individuals who feel overwhelmed, "stuck" or are navigating complex situations. 


My philosophy is simple: I utilise evidence-based interventions to provide therapy that is practical, supportive, and focused on helping you thrive.


I work from an eclectic, person-centred approach, incorporating aspects of Motivational Interviewing (MI), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Most importantly, our work is designed with you, to help you grow in your everyday life.

Areas of Focus

While I work with a broad range of mental health concerns, individual sessions often focus on:

  • Emotional regulation
  • Distress tolerance
  • Anxiety & stress management
  • Interpersonal effectiveness 
  • Self-compassion 
  • Unhooking from unhelpful thought patterns 
  • Practical strategies to manage symptoms

Session Details

Here's the practical information you need to know:

  • Duration: individual sessions typically run for 50 minutes 
  • Medicare rebates: as an AMHSW, individuals with a valid Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from their GP may be eligible for Medicare rebates 
  • Location: sessions are conducted via telehealth, offering you the flexibility to engage in support from the comfort and privacy of your home

CORE DBT Skills Group Program

The CORE DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy) Skills program is a 10-week online group designed to help you build a life worth living. 


Co-facilitated by experienced mental health professionals and peer support clinicians, this group provides a supportive environment to learn evidence-based strategies for managing intense emotions and navigating complex relationships.


 The CORE DBT Skills group is a collaborative program run by:

  • Emma & Lisa: Accredited Mental Health Social Workers (AMHSW)
  • Jess:  Consumer Peer Support Clinician

This unique mix of clinical expertise and lived experience ensures you feel understood and supported from every angle.


 Our goal is to make the gold-standard tools of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) accessible, practical, and usable in your day-to-day life.  

Program Details:

Duration: 10-week group program

Location: Online via Telehealth (Open to all Australian residents)

Next Intake: August 2026

This program is designed for adults who:

  • Struggle with overwhelming emotions or mood swings.
  • Experience difficulties in relationships or fear of abandonment.
  • Want to move from "surviving" to "thriving."
  • Are looking for practical, actionable tools to use in everyday life.

10x Weekly Group Sessions (90 mins): Focused on collaborative skill-building.

10x Weekly Individual Sessions (50 mins): Your private space to troubleshoot and apply the skills to your specific situation.

Peer Support: At least one dedicated peer support session.
